More and more vigilante for profit websites are springing up like Florida Arrest.org, Jail Base.com, Mugshots.com, Phoenixmugs.com, and Whosarrested.com just to name a few. Many of these sites tap into the local booking RSS feeds posted by police departments and then post the same pictures on their site. Once the mug shot photo is on the site, the person featured on the photo can do very little to have the picture removed.
Tyronne Jacques the author of “How To Fight Google and Win” says that this new wave of mug shot photo websites are taking advantage of citizens and really is a form of extortion.
“The issue here is everyone is innocent until proven guilty in a court of law but these mug shot photo websites are permanently convicting people regardless of the outcome of the trial. Many of the people who contact us for help have either beat their initial charges or complied with the conditions of the court, but their mug shot will remain in Google Images until we force them to remove it.”
